Geoffrey conducts Evelyn Glennie’s prizewinner’s concert for the Léonie Sonning Music Prize

On 15th June, Dame Evelyn Glennie was awarded Denmark’s prestigious Léonie Sonning Music Prize, worth one million Danish kroner. Past winners of the award include Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, Benjamin Britten, Dmitri Shostakovich, Miles Davis and Pierre Boulez, with Daniel Barenboim and Simon Rattle among more recent recipients. For her traditional prizewinner’s concert in the sold-out DR Concert Hall, Glennie performed three percussion concertos with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, all conducted by Geoffrey: James MacMillan’s Veni Veni Emmanuel, Michael Daugherty’s Dreamachine and Áskel Másson’s Konzertstück.
